Ms. Violet Barbara Bawuah, Executive Director

Ms. Violet Bawuah is the Director of the Counseling Unit at the Student Affairs Department. Prior to this position she was   the Director of Training at the GIMPA Public Services and Governance School with a responsibility for Training – program planning, research & development, marketing, sales and service. She managed the GIMPA Extractives Industries Centre and had oversight of Program Development initiatives and Training at the GIMPA Gender Centre. Ms. Bawuah joined GIMPA as the Director for the Centre for Management Development (CMD) at the GIMPA Business School handling Executive Education Programs.

She has also been the Coordinator for the Regional Training for the West and Southern Africa AU Member States on the Implementation of the African Charter on the Values and Principles of Public Service & Administration which is organized by the AU Conference of African Ministers of Public/Civil Service (AU CAMPS) Secretariat with support from the UNDP in Ghana.

A very goal driven, People centered and Customer focused person, she   has been involved in training development for over 15 years, leading the design, development and delivery of high quality multichannel, multi-dimensional, cross functional, Results Based training strategies and solutions.

Ms. Bawuah has over 30 year’s professional experience in Business Development, Teaching/ Training, Coaching, Mentoring, Customer Relationship Management, Private Banking, and General Administration. Her research interests   concentrate and focus on issues in the Extractive Industries regarding Resource Governance and Sustainability Development, Transformational and Adaptive Leadership and Business Diplomacy, Stakeholder involvement and Women issues.

Her personal interests are varied. Spirituality, Reading, Partying, and Travelling She likes to work with her people skills to build, encourage and empower others. A very optimistic person who likes quality social relationships that generally maintain friendly public relations. Ms. Bawuah is a family woman with two sons and four grandchildren.

Ms. Bawuah holds an MSc degree in Information Systems Technology from DePaul University – Chicago IL. USA. An MBA from Birmingham University UK, and a BSc. Development Planning from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Kumasi Ghana. She is currently preparing to take her PMP (Project Management Professional) exams with the PMI institute.
